Welding

$0.00 / unit

Operation Next provides grant-funded training, meaning no out-of-pocket cost, in either Welding or CNC Machining and is available to residents of the state of Florida, transitioning military, veterans, military spouses (Active-Duty/Veteran), & children (18 or older) of (Active-Duty/Veteran). The funding only covers your participation in one of the programs, so you will need to choose if you want to participate in the welding or CNC program and only register for one program.

Completing this registration is only one part of the registration process. You will also need to complete the online application linked here: https://www.opnextjobs.com/application-opnext/ for a position in the program to be reserved for you. Once we receive both the registration and application, we will send you a follow-up email to confirm your schedule and start date. Due to the high interest in the program, there may be a one-to-two-week delay before you receive the scheduling email. If you do not receive a follow-up email within two weeks, please reach out to Kelby Thornton by email at [email protected].

The Welding program on average takes around 4 – 6 months to complete for new students with no prior experience, who are practicing the minimum number of hours. If you already have experience or are willing to commit to practicing consistently then the program could be completed within 3 – 4 months.

The welding program will also consist of a mixture of at-home self-study and in-person workshop training.

You control how much time you are spending in the workshop. Normally students will come in once or twice a week and practice for 2-3 hours, but the program is flexible to help work with your schedule.

The regular workshop schedule for welding is:

Morning Class (limited spots) Monday – Thursday 8 am – 2 pm

Regular Class - Monday – Thursday 2 pm – 5 pm.

Night Classes - Monday – Thursday 5 pm – 8 pm (Milton Campus Only)

  • Must be scheduled with the instructor beforehand

The program starts with you receiving your Core and Level 1 Welding books, and then studying the core book first before scheduling time to come in and take the test associated with the core certification. Taking and passing the Core Certification is a requirement before workshop time. Currently the test has to be taken in the testing center on Pensacola or Milton Campus which are open Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. *** This is currently our only testing times available, so if you will not be able to test within these time frame for whatever reason please consider selecting the CNC program instead.***
