About:

Student services employees should have a positive attitude when providing support and assistance to students and take a cheerful, helpful, and optimistic approach. They should actively listen to student concerns, offer solutions with enthusiasm, and make students feel welcome. This includes warm greetings and smiles, active listening, empathy and understanding, problem-solving, positive language, a proactive approach, celebrating successes, communication, and collaboration. This session will inform attendees of why it is important to have a positive attitude when delivering customer service to students and working with colleagues. The session will also allow those who attend to reflect on how they are viewed by others when they deliver services and will give them practical ideas for how to make students and others feel welcome. The presentation will end with suggestions of how to work collaboratively with others. There will also be time to discuss important takeaways and to ask questions.
