Reba Higley, Financial Aid Specialist
Reba has studied Jujitsu since middle school and dabbled in other arts out of interest. She also started Aikido when I was a study abroad student in Japan and continued to learn in her senior year at Penn State University. When Reba returned to Japan to teach English in schools, she joined an Aikido dojo where I received my black belt in Aikido in 2018. Reba has been continuing her training at a dojo in Pensacola.

About:
Aikido is a Japanese martial art founded in the early 1900s. It gained popularity after WWII as teachers expanded across the globe. It focuses on self-defense using evasion, wrist locks, and throws. The art is meant to provide defense with as little effort and strength as possible. In this workshop I will teach basic self-defense with escapes from grabs/attacks, evasion, environmental awareness, and de-escalation techniques.
