About:
What if instructors and students recognized that the content of any writing assignment is the thinking that students must do to complete it? Rubrics traditionally assess student work, but they can also prompt students to think critically about the material they are engaging. This workshop will demonstrate how to create rubrics using intellectual standards developed by the Foundation for Critical Thinking to make instructor feedback more meaningful, efficient, and productive. Participants will practice using these standards to evaluate writing samples as well as consider ways they might “revolutionize” their rubrics to emphasize critical thinking in their discipline.
