By beginning and sustaining a culture of Critical Thinking at Pensacola State College, we can establish a deep and renewable culture of less biased and, therefore, more clear, accurate, precise, deep, broad, relevant, significant, and fair thinking both in the classroom and in the institution. This workshop offers an introduction to Critical Thinking as understood by Dr. Richard Paul and The Foundation for Critical Thinking. The workshop will suggest that Critical Thinking should be the underpinning of any pedagogy, and it should inform the behaviors of institutional decisions as well. In this workshop we will examine three types of "thinking" as well as what the Foundation for Critical Thinking calls "The Elements of Thought" and "The Universal Intellectual Standards." Along with all of that, we will offer one tool that educators can use to help deepen student thinking and learning and to help us evaluate that thinking and learning.
