Boys Beginner Gymnastics (Fall 2) - FA25

This class is for athletes ages 6 and up who have never participated in gymnastics or done minimal gymnastics before. Gymnasts will learn basic form, technique, and fundamental skills on each event while developing coordination, body awareness, and balance. (8 hours)

For students taking Girls Beginner / Co-Ed Beginner / Boys Beginner, students will learn the following skills needed for the Advanced Beginner classes:

  • Bridge and hold one leg up and kick over from a short block
  • Kick to handstand and hold on panel mat, finish in lunge
  • Cartwheel over a mat with straight legs (start and finish in lunge)
  • Roundoff from a hurdle
  • Backward roll to straddle floor (no help)
  • Tuck jump and split jump on floor / Jump full turn for boys
  • Walk and jump on high beam - forwards, backwards, kick walk
  • Pullover with one step on wall or minimal spot with no wall
  • Cast 3” off bar to back hip circle (small spot)
  • Inverted hang, skin the cat and hanging 3 sec. pike hold on rings (boys)
  • Run, hurdle to straight jump off springboard
  • Run, hurdle and dive roll to the resi mat

Fall 2025 Session (August 18 - October 11): No Class on September 1st.

ATTIRE

  • Gymnasts should be in comfortable, athletic attire. Leotards for girls are not necessary, but are acceptable. A t-shirt and shorts is sufficient.
  • Hair should be neatly pulled back.
  • No jewelry (other than studs in the ear) should be worn.
  • Please avoid clothing with zippers and buttons.
  • For gymnastics classes, bare feet is preferred. Socks are OK. Tights are not recommended. Socks are recommended for trampoline classes.

FOOD & DRINK

  • No food or drink should be in brought into the gym other than water.
  • No gum is allowed at any time.

Class occurs on Pensacola State College, Building 19. Campus Map
