A 10-week course designed for an advanced adult acrylic painting class, focusing on building upon existing skills, exploring techniques, and fostering individual artistic expression.
Overall Course Goals - By the end of this course, students will:
- Demonstrate a deeper understanding of color theory and its application in acrylics.
- Confidently employ a wider range of acrylic painting techniques and mediums.
- Develop a more refined sense of composition and design.
- Explore personal artistic interests and develop a more individual style.
- Critically analyze their own work and the work of others.
Materials:
- Regular or Heavy body acrylic paints in a variety of Primaries and Secondaries and Earth Tones.
Brands: Liquitex, Golden, Master's Touch, Grumbacher.
- Color wheel
- A variety of brushes (rounds, flats, filberts in different sizes)
- Palette knives and/or painting wedges
- 10 -12x9 Canvas boards for classroom work
- 10 -12x9 Stretched canvasses for homework assignments
- Acrylic mediums (e.g., glazing medium, flow improver, retarder, texture paste)
- Water container and spray bottle
- Palette (disposable or reusable)
- Paper towels or rags
- Sketchbook and drawing materials
- Easel
- Apron
- Plastic tablecloth
Supplies are used on the first night of class.
